Dobbio (captain), 1ms proved a most successful captain. To bis extremely fast and excellent bowling the unusual number of victories this year may in a great degree be attributed. His batting was also very good, and improved wonderfully. Tie fields his own bowling splendidly and is a very safe catch. X. J. Abdy is one of the best bats at Charterhouse. He lias a grand defence and fair hitting powers, and can generally be relied on for runs. His wicket-keepingalso was very good considering how little practice he had. A. IT. F. Wilson is a very good but somewhat unsteady bat. He hits exceedingly hard when he gets his eye in, and made several capital scores during the season. A very safe field at long leg and cover-point, and a safe catch. E. F. Grov'se bats in good style, but was excessively unfortunate throughout the season. His bowling when on the spot is good, and on those occasions dangerous. TF. T. B. Haijter , a really excellent long stop and safe catch. He lias immense hitting powers which have occasionally proved most serviceable, but ho was very unlucky during the past year. E. L. Colebroohe is the steadiest bat in the eleven, having a wonderfully good and plucky defence. He is most useful for breaking the bowling, always goes in first, and seldom fails to score, hitting well to leg. Should take more pains with his fielding, which is uncertain. R. Wood , an extremely scientific and hard-working left-hand bowler. When he is at one end aud Dobbie at the oilier none ever scores largely. His batting has been of great service to tho eleven, and his loss will be much felt next year. 0. Evan Thomas , his style is good, bnt wants a better defence. However, be has made some good scores, and should be very useful next season. A capital field at cover-point, and a good slow bowler. E. G. Colvin is a very safe bat, his average being tho highest during the year. He is always good for some runs, and can keep wicket fairly. Should pay more attention to his fielding. G . JL Ainslie’s batting on several occasions proved very serviceable. His fielding is generally good, and he throws in well. His bowling, however, hardly came up to what was expected of him from the promise ho showed last year. H. Davidson makes runs as a rule when he goes in last, hut seldom at other times. His stylo is good and promises well. Should take more care with his fielding. o CHELTENHAM COLLEGE. Captain, T. Moore. Results of Matches. Matches played, 15 ; won, 5; drawn, 5 ; lost, 5. Opponents.
