Fortes (captain), a steady bat .nd <; cel lent field; showed great tact and judgment in managing the eleven. Wan disabled for most of the term by an accident in the football 'i-oii. A. V. Wells (secretary), olway 8 certain of runs, is much too timid :>s a bat, and tlie worst judge of a run in the eleven; good field and safe eareh. T. E. Haven, most useful bowler (slow) on a fast ground; trusts too much to his eye when batting; very trying to bowler and field when set. I. II. Tamer, did good service to the club as a (medium pace) bowler; scored b« ivily towards the close of the season. H. R. Fuller , a very painstaking .md ful bat, keeping his wicket up against most bowling; is a very good (slow) bowler, but :s inclined to get off the spot if his fields are inattentive (captain, 1877). .4. G. Hieivkinfo a very pretty bat, his forward play being particularly good; unfortunately for the club lie does not take sufficient interest in the game, neither when batting nor in the field. . 1 . ( \ Brovrnloiv , prefers the river to the cricket-field; when he plays scores moderately, and i< all attention in the field (secretary, 1877). J. 1\ Archdall , useful fast bowler, good style when batting, but ought to pay more attention to run- jetting than to jKwition when batting. IF. L. Grane, kept wicket for the eVvert, and improved very rapidly,; very pretty bat, and a useful man to any team. T. ./. Atherton , very unlucky as a bat; has great punishing powers; a fair bowler and field. 7*. W. The#*, scored freely at the commence ment of the season, but fell off Howards the end.
