Greenwood and Hill were the only Players who failed to get double figures in one or other of the two innings, but the hero of the side was Daft, whose two scores were sterling displays of cricket. Ulyett, too, and Selby played well, and Barlow, considering that this was his first appearance for tlio Players, made a favourable deln't, although his second score of 33 was not a lively innings, extending as it did over two hours and a quarter. On the side of the Gentlemen, Mr. W. G. Grace, who was bowled by Emmett without a run, played a grand second innings of 99, and Mr. Frank Penn showed better cricket than in any match of the year.
