C H A P T E R I I . PRINCE’S CLUB IN 1875. O f f i c e r s f o r 1875. — Committee , Marquis of Bowmont, Earl of Clarendon, Earl of Coventry, Lord Delamere, Viscount Downe, W. Hart Dyke, M.P., Viscount Folkestone, Earl of Gosford, Lord Grey do Ralclifife, Arthur E. Guest, Lord George Hamilton, M.P., Lord Londesborough, Alfred Lubbock, Earl of March, Colonel Marshall, Lord Methuen, Marquis of Queensberry, Captain W. S. Kenyon Slaney, A. H. Smith- Barrv, M.P., Colonel Taylor, M .P ., Colonel Trotter, Lord W illoughby de Broke. Secretary , George Prince. T tte season of 1875 can hardly be said to have been anything of a success at Prince’s Club. Matches were few in comparison with former years, and the contests which should be the most attractive of the year, to wit those entitled Gentlemen and Players, and Gentlemen of the South against Players of the North, were utter failures through want of management. We write in plain terms, as with more £>olitic system, first class cricket at Prince’ s would be as popular as anywhere. Last year there was a want of judgment in the selection of those in whom was vested the responsibility of the two great matches of the season, and the ground suffered heavily in consequence. The remedy is easy enough and not difficult of discovery, and we recommend it to the serious consideration of the Messrs Prince, as friends and well- wishers.
