W. G. Grace nnd B. B. Cooper made 286 runs for the Gentlemen of {South v. Players of South. The Players in the end wanted 428 runs to win, and it was t \idently a task impossible. It was of no use for Lockwood, Jupp, and O"croft to play steadily on the remote chance of saving the game, or for McIntyre to hit with the energy' of despair.
