P resentation to A lfred S h aw . —At tlu* end of the season, Shaw was presented \ ith a testimonial in appreciation and acknowledgment of his splendid howling during the season. The testimonial consisted of a hand some silver teapot, valued at fifteen guineas, and was made on behalf of the subscribers by Mr. Williams, for Shaw’s excellent lvowling, especially in the Marylebonc match at Lord’s. * OB ITUARY OF THE PAST YEAR . B rown , C. (Notts).—Died Sept. 20, 1875, at Nottingham. Was a fine ticket keeper and a wonderful jerker. Bunn, E dward H ayward —“ The Squire.”—Died at Wrougbton, Wilts, on March 20, 1875, in the 9lst year of his age. Played in all the great matches from 1805 to 1825. As a cricketer had no equal when at his best. Was a very hard hitter, a bowler of marvellous accuracy with great spin, and an active and sure field. Was, besides, a fine sportsman allround, a fine shot, an effective boxer, and as an athlete excelled by few*, his favourite distance being 100 yards. B u s h , R obert . —Died Dec. 24, 1874, at the age of 80. Played more than once for Surrey, but was best known as a teacher of the game, being for years “ coach ” to the boys at Charterhouse School. C hadrand , C harles . —Died at Epsom, on Feb. 18, 1875, aged 58. Nineteen years ago, Alfred, Charles, and Frederick Chadband played the three brothers, Charles, Richard, and Joseph Payne, a single wicket match at Epsom, which lasted three da\s. Was well known at Reigate twenty-three years ago as a good wicket-keeper and a fine square leg hitter. M iller . F. P. (Surrey)—Died at Chi11worth, in Somersetshire, Nov. 22. 1875. Was Captain of the Surrey Eleven for many years, and a splendid all-round cricketer. P ettexer , F rank . —Died at Stockbridge, Edinburgh, on July 19, 1875. A professional cricketer of Notts, much respected. Born at Farnsfield, in 1847, and engaged for la^t five years as tutor to the Edinburgh Academicals. I* rest , C. H. (Yorkshire).—Died in March, 1875.—Was a fine amateur cricketer, and at one time a good amateur sprunt runner. R ingwood , R obert . — Died at Cambridge on Feb. 18, 1875. S treet , G eorge . —Died at Kennington on May 2, 1875. As a professional cricketer was useful to Surrey about fifteen yeais ago, being a good bowler. For the last eleven yeai s had been ground keeper at Kennington Oval. H opkins , W illiam .—W as Senior Esquire Bedell of Cambridge University, and as an undergraduate was a good all-round cricketer. Died in Dec. 1874. In a University match against the Bury Club he twice went in first and brought out his bat on both occasions with capital scores. M oultrie , Rev. J.—Died at the Rectory, Rugby, Dec. 2(>, 1874, aged 74. Was Captain of the Eleven at Eton, and entered Trinity, Cambridge, in 1819. A great supporter of cricket all his life, and as an underhand bowler was very successful at times. Besides the above there were reports of the deaths of other cricketers, but without dates:—Anstead, T. (Surrey); Brown, G. (Sussex) ; Sopp, (L (Sussex); Tharp, Mr. J. S.
