Showed as tine form in batting as ever in 1875 drives very hard and plays the game thoroughly, not a safe or smart held; might almost be called second best bat last year. G reks , 0. E. (Uppingham and Cambridge). One of the best amateur bats men of the day, having line defence with great certainty of hitting all round ; a good long-stop. ° O ttaway , C. J. (Eton and Oxford). Played for Middlesex by residence. One of the very best amateur batsmen of the day, with marvellous defence and unwearied patience, a good field; did not play for bis county last year. R utter , E. (Rugby). A slow left-hand round arm bowler, and has done the county great service ; is a good field, and better bat than bis scores imply. Only played little for bis county in 1875. T urner , M. (Cheltenham). A very good wicket-keeper, and at times bats to some account. W alker , I. D. (Harrow). One of the very best all-round cricketers, being a fine batsman, with a talent for hitting on the off side, and a truly irreproachable field, especially at mid-off. A good captain, and excellent judge of the game. W alker , R. D. (Harrow and Oxford). Has not figured so much in pro minent matches of late ; a very clever slow round-arm bowler, and a run-getting bat in his own style. W alker , V. E. (Harrow). The best judge of the game extant ; as a cap tain has no equal, and is still a brilliant field in any position, and a most effective batsman; hardly played at all in 1875. H xjrrkht , A. W. Pretty bat, but lias not played much against first-class bowling; very good field. R owley , C apt . (Harrow). A fine hitter, and one of the best bats in the army ; a fair wicket-keeper. P ale , J. W. (Tonbridge and Canbridge). Plays for Middlesex by residence ; only played twice for his coimty, but showed that he has not lost his old form, a good field and sure catch. F rancis , C. K. (Rugby and Oxford). One of the best fast amateur bowlers, but has lost somewhat of his spin. Fine hitter and good field ; plays for Middlesex by residence. H adow , W. H. (Harrow and Oxford). Very successful for his county both with bat and ball ; boAvls slow-round arm, very straight with good pitch. A pretty and effective bat against the best howling. H enderson , R. (Harrow). A medium-pace bowic-r with high delivery; hard hitter. N epean , Rev. 0. E. (Charterhouse and Oxford). Generally safe for runs ; a fail' wicket-keeper. R atliff , T. Capital field at cover-point and fair bat. Ross, C. H. A. A good out-tield, wanting in defence as a bat. Samu, A. F. (Wellington and Cambridge). Very fine field, and at times bata brilliantly. S now , A. H. P. A good medium left-hand bowler, varies his pitch and pace.
