A good field ; is an enthusiastic cricketer. L ubbock , A. (Eton). Plays seldom now ; but is still one of the best bats- men. L ubbock , E. (Eton). Has a peculiar style of batting, but gets runs; bowls fast, left under hand, a good field. M akinnon , F. A. (Harrow and Cambridge). A very useful man to the County, being a safe bat and a quick field. P enn , W . (Harrow). A fine bat, playing not on ly freely and well, but also in good style; can bowl if required. P enn , F. Proved himself to be one of the very best amateur batsmen of the day, having plenty of defence and very great hitting power; good field. P enn , A. A. good slow left hand round-arm bowler, and is likely to be of use to the County. R enny -T ailyocr , H. W. (Cheltenham). A very good cricketer in every department; a splendid bat, with defence as well as plenty of hit, and a neat cut ; an excellent held, and a successful bowler at times; Kent by residence. S ijaw , V. K. (Cambridge.) A useful man, being a straight medium-pace bowler (left) and a steady left-handed batsman; only a fair field. S tokes , F. (Rugby.) A fast round-arm bowler of great pace ; a very good ba t ; a good long-stop, and should play more for the county. T raill , W. F. (Eton and Oxford). Still keeps up his bowling, and active as ever in the field. T ylecote , E. F. S. (Clifton and Oxford). A fine bat and good wicket keeper ; plays by residence. W allrojh , C. A. (Harrow and Oxford). Very fine bat to fast bowling, and a capital field. W hite , E. A. Has done good service to his county, and has scored well; being a safe if not showy bat. Y ardley , W (Rugby). One of the best amateur batsmen of the day; plays splendid cricket, his driving being very fine ; an uncertain field. Only played once for his county in 1875. F oord -K klcey , W. (Oxford/ plays for Kent. LANCASHIRE. A ppleby , A. A left fast round-arm bowler, very straight, and should not be left out of any amateur eleven; an impro\ ed bat and very safe catch ; a valuable man for any eleven. B ibley , K if. (Winchester). A very neat bat, and good slow underhand bowler. B oubfjelo , E. J. Flays little now ; hut is still a heavy hitter, and a good field. J>F.win Rsr, II. Has a free style of batting, but has not been so successful an was anticipated ; good field and can throw well. H ardoastle , W. With more confidence would be a valuable man to his county; bats in good form and drives well.
