Perhaps the best amateur wicket-keeper of the day, being very sure; rarely misses a chance, but rarely makes anything like a long score with the bat, can hit well. C booke . F. J. A fine hitter and free bat, prefers fast bowling, a good field. F o r d , E. C. B. Hardly fulfilled the promise he gave in 1874, is a useful man though, being good bat, and fan* wicket-keeper. G o r d o n , C. S. (Marlborough). A smart little cricketer, having great freedom as a hat, and being a good field ; played little in first class matches in 1875; G r a c e , E. M. A very brilliant bat, with a good eye for hitting ; a splendid field, and without doubt still the best amateur point. Scored very largely for his County when he played. G race , W. G. The champion cricketer at all points. As a batsman stands alone, as a field has no superior, and is the best amateur bowler of the day. (See his doings in 1875, p. 187.) G r a c e , G. F. Only second to his brother Gilbert. Hardly showed such good cricket as in 1874, but played some brilliant innings, notably for Houth v. North, at Huddersfield, and for Gloucesterahire v. Surrey, at Clifton. A fine field, a long and good thrower, and bowls very well at times.
