Hirst succeeds to the Captaincy ; a grand steady and safe bat, always going in first, showing fine form, obtained the Cup for the best average; also fields remarkably well. *C. A. Key , one of the bowlers (fast) of the Eleven ; an improving bat, and very smart in the slips. D. F. Burton , a good bat, but still rather nervous; first rate cover and long-leg, and change bowler. <7. M. Cunliffe , the bowler of the Eleven, medium pace with great command ; a good and plucky bat; also very active in the field. G. L . King , the wicket­ keeper of the team ; and improved in batting. A. S . Bennett, a very merry little batsman, playing in good form; and a first-rate point. A. Jf. Inglis, a very good and improving bat, and the best field in the Eleven. F. K. Speed. an improving hat, and fields well. S. E. Jones , change bowler ; im­ proving bat; and attentive in tlie field. A. II.
