R ossall E leven in 1875.— *W. Armour (Capt.) is a good bat and hits hard but wants defence and practice; fair field with quick return ; bowls lobs with fair success. P. H. Morton bowls remarkably well, having great pace, and keeping well on the wicket; does not always come off as a bat, but is fast getting over a tendency to hit round ; a very smart field. G. S. Burke bats well and in nice form, and scores very fast when once s e t ; excels espe cially as a fielder, throwing with great precision from any part of the field ; is useful as a bowler. A. L. Ingall , a really good bat, always to be de pended on for runs ; has excellent defence and hits well to leg ; has been of great service as a wicket keeper during the latter part of the season. *G . i f . Morton , one of the nicest bats in the eleven ; plays with confidence, although rather lacking power; a good left-hand bowler. *W. B. Wcrge, about the best scorer in the eleven, being especially strong on the leg side ; always plays with a straight bat; as a fielder rather wants quickness. *E. C. Ecnrson makes runs fast, usually playing very strong forward ; a good wicket-keeper. L. JL Lindon , a very neat bat, plays carefully, and usually in the correct way, but does not pay enough attention to leg balls. E. S . Clone has a very safe defence and good hitting powers ; is especially useful as a change bowler ; not quite sharp enough in the field. T. Watts , usually too anxious to score fast, and consequently hits rather wildly ; has latterly been of service as a slow left-hand bowler, having plenty of break • fair field. * W. N. C. Wheeler , the most careful bat in the team; is seldom tempted to hit, perhaps carrying carefulness to a fault; has recently fielded very well at point. i
