Has also exhibited marked improvement in batting, showing good defence, with hitting pow ers, his average being the highest in the Eleven. A painstaking and judicious captain. *C. A. Creamvell , a very useful bat, especially on the otf side; can cut very well, and punish loose bowling, put is sometimes in rather a hurry to make runs. A very fair wicket keeper. E. M. IJj'ixtowe might be a good bat and field if he would take any interest at all in the game. Hon. II. Sidney a very fair bat, driv ing well, hut a little uncertain on first going to the wicket. A useful long stop. S. llardhuj a very useful slow round-hand bowler (left arm), with a puzzling action. The bowler of the Eleven, and a first rate field at cover- point. Improving as a bat. * S. Freer a very sure field at long leg, and excellent thrower in. A steady bat, but disappointing in matches. *A. Sebi ight a very fair bowler, but over-pitched. If not overworked ought to be first rate, as he has a good easy action ; a painstaking bat, but very un certain in the field. E. Packer, a very useful bowler, being generally on the wicket; improving as a bat; a fair field. R. S. Apt harp , a steady bat, but very weak, and lacks hitting powers, though his defence is good ; inclined to be slow in the field. P. Raven, might be a good bat if he would take more pains ; with increased size ought to be first rate ; slow and uncertain in the field. * O. Wade , a painstaking cricketer, and useful field ; somewhat still with the bat. * Signifies has left.
