Kemp, Captain, the best bat in the Eleven, with good defence and remarkable hitting power ; a good field any where, hut especially brilliant at coverpoint; did good service with slows, winner of the Batting and Fielding Cups. H. E. Meek, one of the best men in the Eleven ; ill-health prevented him batting as well as he would other wise have done, a very dangerous bat; the best bowler in the Eleven, and a good field anywhere; Captain for 1876. *A. Banbury , uncertain as a bat, but veiy dangerous when set, hits hard, a fast bowler, irresistible on his day ; a good field at point. *M. G. Wilkinson , improved greatly towards the end of the season, playing some fine innings, very good man to go in first, good field and best thrower in the Eleven. *A. C. Tyssen , very fond of thegame^ does his 1est always; a good bat, though must not get discouraged at bad luck; a good field and safe catch. *A. H. Cochrane , a useful all-round man, good, though perhaps not brilliant, at all points in the game ; should make more use of his height. (7. G. Giuvdy, a left-hand bat, with beau tiful style ; played against luck most of the year; can bowl; and is a good field and catch; will do well, we hope, next year. A. F. Stewart, a good bowler with pretty delivery; will do very wTell next year with increasing strength ; must be more active in the field ; a fair bat. L. G. Clouyh Taylor , a good all-round man, a steady though not free bat; a beautiful long-stop, and good field anywhere; will do well, if hestays, next year. S. F. Charles, wicket-keeper to the Eleven, and filled the post well; can bat; but must not be too fond of a hit. L. Chafer, last though not least ; a very good bat against professional bowling in practice, but unlucky in his innings ; his play at Lord’s is worthy of all praise; a good field, especially at long-stop ; should be of great service next year. f 2
