Gurney as Captain has satisfac torily fulfilled the requirements of his office, and is a fair judge of the game, his hatting is promising, though rather weak against slows, and he is a fair medium paced bowler. G. F. Bonner, a good and fine left-handed bat, brilliant field, and safe catch. L. E. Lushing ton , at times a useful bat, and with stronger defence would be always so ; has much improved in fielding. TV. A . Young , a decidedly promising bat, though, somewhat weak on the leg stump : can field well if he likes. B. T. Blomfield a fair bat, weak at the beginning of his innings ; useful in the field. F. G . G. Tellicoe , a capital left hand bowler with good pitch and spin ; has a good eye, and with more pains might make a good bat. L . S. N eumarch, not so effective in bowling as was expected ; as a bat wonderfully improved, with great cutting pow ers. J. F . Neu ton, a good long-stop to the eleven ; a neat and very promising bat. S. Payne-Gallirey, a steady bat, always plays up in the game. F . L. Cox, a fair bat, and throw’s in well. B. T. Alien a fair wicket-keeper, which j>ost he has filled during the season ; a moderate bat.
