A mold , the most useful all-round man in the eleven, being a really good bat (vide nrerayes), and a most successful bowler, round-arm medium, being vfiry straight and at times most difficult to play. 77. T. Prior , a free-hitting bat with a long reach, very dangerous when set, made the longest individual score in the club, viz., 106 versus Trinity; a good bowler, slow round-arm, (Sec., for 1870). J. F. Adair , a brilliant and effective bat combining an excellent defence with no mean hitting powers. As a wicket-keep deserves to rank among the leading amateurs of the day ; played on more than one occasion for his Uni versity. G. 77. Eden, plays in very good form and with a little less flourish would be a really first class bat, very quick in the field. II. M. White, played one good innings ; but otherwise rather disappointed previous expecta tion ; style too cramped to excel ; a safe lield. T. 7i. Smythe , a steady hat with strong defence, slow in the field. E. William s\ a very uncertain bat, too fond of “ slogging ” in practice to shine in a match; an excellent field. T. II. Mason , a good howler (fast round-arm) very destructive on his day, hits hard to leg. C. H. Spooner , a fine field at point, room for improvement in batting, at present too much action. P. Crick , bats fairly in practice but has yet to “ come off ” in a match. has made some large scores mis season, a good bowler, best all-round man in the Eleven. W . 11. So lom on , Secretary, very steady bat, particularly strong on the left leg, a good field, has been known to bowl. E . A . M aund , ST. PETER’S COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE. Hon. Sec., W. H. Solomon.
