Among the defeated were Middlesex, Surrey, Gloucestershire, Notts and Lancashire, all principal counties. A careful analysis would make York­ shire out to be practically as good as Notts, and, in reality, there was little if any inequality. Still Yorkshire bowling was hardly so dangerous as in pre­ vious years, and, at times, the eleven appeared stale. Andrew Greenwood and Lockwrood did the most execution with the bat, and Clayton proved himself to be all round as good as any member of the eleven—no small praise. Results of Matches.
