Cotterill. lion. Secs. Mr. G. W. King, 41, Brunswick Place, Brighton ; Mr. C. H. Smith, 34, Ship Street, Brighton. Sussex showed a brilliant summary in 1875. A table of eight matches with live decisive victories and two bare defeats, was, at least, encouraging even if some of the encounters were not of the highest order. Three Amateurs head the poll of batsmen, and the County is fortunate to have three such dangerous players as Messrs. Cotterill, Greenfield, and Winslow. Cliarlwood began well but fell off towards the end of the season, while on the other hand Walter Humphreys showed consistently good form. James Phillips played rarely and suffered from want of practice. Lillywhite and Fillery together obtained 121 out of 151 wickets, a fact sufficiently demon strative of the value of their aid with the hall. New bowling is the next need to be supplied by the executive.
