Thornton, Universities Club, Jermyn Street, London, W. Six matches without one favourable in its result. Such is the summary of Middlesex cricket in 1875. Luck was sadly against the County throughout, and the weather inimical to the success of the bat, as it was generally, did not improve the chances of an eleven with whom batting was the strong point. A close match with Surrey at Prince’s and one at the same ground against Notts, which would, but for the rain, have, in all probability, pro duced a victory for Middlesex were the redeeming features of an unsuc cessful season. Bowling was the weak point in the eleven and the weakness was very marked. Mr. Duller was in wonderful form with the bat, and Mr. Hadow, too, the latter taking as well the largest number of wickets. Mr. A. J. Webbe of the Oxford eleven was also a great addition to the batting strength to the County, and he bids fair to become one of the very best amateur batsmen of the day. Results of Matches.
