Ijuicashire but for its decisive reverse in the return match with Yorkshire would have had an unbroken list of successes in 1S75. Nor would anyone have grudged it triumphs honestly won by good cricket throughout. In singular contrast to previous years the County was, as a rule, instead of as before as the exception, well represented during the season. Messrs. Hornby and Appleby lent valuable assistance respectively with bat and ball, and Messrs. Patterson (Cambridge) and Royle (Oxford) are likely to be of considerable use. Barlow had the highest aggregate as well as the best average of the year, and without doubt he is one of the very best professional cricketers of the day. McIntyre and Watson as usual were most effective with the ball, and generally there was every sign of promise for Lancashire in the cricket shown in 1875. Results of Matches.
