Middlesex went in first, but did little damage, as Messrs. Ha.dow ( not out 39) and Ottaway (84 a.lone got into double figures, nine batsmen ga1ning in all 29 r1111s. Yorks ·re began badly enough, with seven wickets for 57 runs, but Hill and Hicks made ample amends, and ihe former with 42 the latter with 28 put Yorkshire in advance to the extent of six runs. Middlesex in its second attempt reached 111-one less than the first- -with 23 to Mr. C. E. Green as the highest score, and Yorkshire made the requisite s11m, ( 106) to win with the loss of five wickets, lddison, who had to retire with a dam1:Lged finger, playing very well for 28.
