The Twenty-two scored 57 and 58. THE TENTH MATCH v. FIFTEEN OF VICTORIA. Thl1rsday, February 19, : Q7 4 . '\Vith praisewo1·ty consideration for our first defeat by Eighteen of Victoria, the Committee had this time handicapped ns as bette1 able to meet Fiftee11 of the olony. Certainly some of the be t Victorians were absent, notably, Allan, Conway, Boyle and oom1)any, bt1t we had got into form antl otrr play was quite a different thing to the show at th end of December. vV. G. G1'ace deceived us again in the matte1' of the to s. The Fifteen went in but their performancce was much less b1·illiant than in the first match. '' B. B.'' again made the highest score, but this time it "'·as only 20, and the aggregate was merely 110. On Ollr side we b-egan badly enot1gh, for W. G. Grace, Gil ert ancl Greenwood we1· e all g ot rid of for 25 runs. Fortunately the ''tail'' atoned for the shor t com.in g L of the bead, as, with the exception of Bush ancl Solttherton, all the re st made good scores, G. F. Grace pla)ing very well for 40, and Lill yw hit hitting hard for the same su1n. We had an .advantage of 7 runs on the :first innings, and this stood ns in good stead, as the Victorians only reached 127 in their second attempt. In the enJ we had 49 rrins to get to win, ancl this cost us three wickets, W. R. Gilbert again playing right well for h i . not out innings. We won by seven ,vickets. After lt1ncheon ,ve took th bat, it having been ad,·ertised that the Eleven wol1lcl bat "'·ith on , the . ae numbe1 .. in the field. The Captain and Jupp went in fir t and scored 140 before they were parted. 1\1r.
