If the runs of one player be betted against those of another , the be depends on the first innings unless otherwise specified . III. If the bet be made on both innings , and one party beat the other in one innings , the runs of the first innings shall determine it . IV. Thefollowing were established the laws of county qualification , at a meeting held in the Surrey County Pavilion , Kennington Oval , on June 9. The following were present :-Surrey , Dr. Jones (chairman ) and Mr. F. Burbidge ; Middlesex , Messrs . V. E. Walker and M. Turner : Sussex , Messrs . H. M. Curteis and G. W. King ; Kent, Major Denne and Captain Lambert ; Gloucestershire , Messrs . E. M. Grace and W. G. Grace ; Yorkshire , Mr. A. Tozer ; Nottinghamshire , Captain Holden; Secretary to Meeting, Mr. C. W. Alcock (Sec. Surrey Cricket Club). I. That no cricketer , whether amateur or professional , shall play for more than one county during the same season . II. Every cricketer born in one county and residing in another shall be free to choose at the commencementof each season for whichof those counties he will play, and shall , during that season , play for that county only . III . A cricketer shall be qualified to play for any county in which he is residing and has resided for the previous two years ; or a cricketer may elect to play for the county in which his family home is , so long as it remains open to him as an occasionalresidence. IV. That , should any question arise as to the residential qualification , the sam shouldbeleft to the decision of the committeeof the MaryleboneClub. V. That a copy of these rules be sent to the Marylebone Club, with a request that they be adopted by the club .
