1 3 2 BRADFELDELEVEN IN 1873.-A. Scott , Captain, in which position he gave general satisfaction , looking after his Eleven keenly , both in practice and matches ; as a batsman , an extremely fine all -round hitter , of whomany school Eleven might justly be proud . G. Smith , Secretary , a very useful cricketer , being a really good and very hardworking field ; an eccentric slogging bat, often scoring whenmost required . P. Rogers , for his size a most excellent batsman, having a very pretty style , and driving uncommonly hard, especially to the off ; ought t o make a bowler. S. Brooksbank came on a good deal towards the end of the season as a bat; hits very hard, but would be more useful if he sometimes held a catch . E. Carey , a very promising cricketer ; was extremely useful as a wicket -keeper all through the season , and often showed considerable promise as a bat. F. Capel Cure played one capital innings , but on the whole hardly came up to his last year's promise , either in batting or bowling . H. Smith , the most useful all -round m a nin the team, an excellent bowler, as his unvarying success in every match proved; a really good bat, if his nervousness will allow him to survive the first few balls ; a perfect short field. R. Bill, a pretty and successful bat to fast bowling, but done for as soon as " lobs " are even mentioned ; a good long -stop . C. Powell did not come muchduring the season ; generally fields well . G. White, a small , but often useful cricketer ; his style is too rustic to succeed often ; good field . R. Boles , also a rustic bat ; but a very good bowler and a splendid field , always playing ups* 000 S U R R E Y C O U N T Y S C H O O L . H o n. Sec., H. J. Tanner. Resultsof M a t c h e s.
