Vernon , Captain for 1873 ; a splendid point; can field almost anyball that comes within his reach ; unlucky in run- getting in the early part of the season , but improved immensely since he went in T first ; a powerful hitter . *C. E. Couchman , Captain of the Club in 1873 ; a gooddr bat with pretty style ; fair field . *H. G. Ryland, hardly played at all during the season ; rather wild inbatting ; fast left -hand bowler and excellent field anywhere . *E. R. Yerburgh , very good and safe bat, and useful bowler ; left at the commence- mentof the season . G. Stallard played extremely well at the beginning of the season, but took too muchto hitting at the end, and lost muchof his old form ; active in the field , and bowls well . E. R. Kemmis has been of great service to the Eleven in bowling ; fast , with low delivery ; has not muchdefence as a bat ; very hard hitter ; good field and safe catch . *D. R. Browning left in May, conse- quently his services were almost altogether lost ; an excellent manto go in first ,. being avery careful bat and strong on the leg-side ; an excellent field . *F. Bush, rather uncertain as abat ; sometimes plays in very good form ; rather slow in the field . *J. A. Fletcher has seemed unlucky throughout the season , playing excellently in practice , but failing to score largely in matches ; invaluable as a long-stop . W. Armour, very steady bat (left handed) ; slow run-getter ; good field ; andhas bowled slows . T. Disney bats very well at times ; rather too apt to become wild and hit too much; good bowler, and fields well ; Captain of the Club 1873-74. H. R. Hammond, a very promising bat , with pretty style , but wants confidence ; good change bowler. M A L V E R N C O L L E G E . H. H. Ingleby , sen., Captain . R e s u l t so f M a t c h e s.
