Drew (Captain ), a good bat with strong defence , though rather unlucky ; a first -rate long -stop and a good catch out in the field , seldom letting the ball go. *W. C. Williams , a very safe and steady bat; wonthe challenge cup for the highest average in foreign matches ; a very fair , and sometimes very successful lob bowler, though , perhaps , hardly as good this year as he was last . E. H. Parry obtained highest average through the wholeseason , being a very good bat and seldom failing to score ; a very straight slow bowler , often destructive , and good field at cover -point.H. G. Jeaffreson , anuncertain bat, but has improved greatly since last season ; ought t obe more careful in practising ; a fair bowler, and at times very successful . A. W. Corrie , amost promising bat, with very good style , and will doubtless get over the nervousness which spoils his play in matches after a time ; a good and safe wicket -keeper . *F. H. Firth , has improved in batting since last season , but fallen
