Shuter , a good Captain in the field , as well as in the management of school cricket generally . Played several good innings . towards the close of the season , hitting especially well to the off . H. J. B. Hollings has improved in his batting , but still has a considerable amount of flourish ; a good field , especially at short slip ; ought to practise bowling . G. S. Marriott has learnt to open his shoulders , but is too fond of hitting ; a good field at point , but at present rather too slow in running to succeed elsewhere . J. H. Savory , a brilliant field at cover -point , and promises to be a really good bat next season. H. R. Webbe, a steady and patient bat ; played well at the beginning of the season; has not yet learnt what balls are and what are not within his reach ;
