Baily (Captain for 1874) did good ser- vice for the Eleven, making runs uncommonlyfast ; displayed his old powerof leg -hitting . J. E. Raven, a very useful man; good hitter ; dangerous fast bowler (generally travels with an attendant surgeon). F. E. Patteson , very fine bat and field ; has left , and is a great loss to the Eleven . A. Ashton will also be missed ; slow and steady bat ; a comfortable companion for a lazy man. R. L. Geaves , a mighty hitter , on principles of his own; very difficult slow bowler, and at times brilliant in the field . H. W. Turner , a good all -round man, and first- rate Captain . R. Aylward (Secretary for 1874) improved as a bat ; was supposed tohavebowleda wicket somewhere. T. E. Raven, good slowbowler; thinks there is nothing like variety . F. S. Willett has a nice style ; too fond of a swipe ; capital field . C. H. Candy, very good and ubiquitous field , throwing in capitally from long leg ; batted with excellent intentions . R. Dunn, a frolicsome bat, his average speaks for itself ; as a bowler , made up for his sins , being invaluable in thatcapacity. S A N TJ E S U SC O L L E G E , C A M B R I D G E .
