The latter , too, fell an easy prey to Clifton , an Eleven that would have given Harrow serious trouble had there been a chance of such a meeting. Indeed , it seems reasonable to predict that both Clifton and Uppingham would have taken their own part creditably in any competition for " Cock School " of the year , as the Cliftonians were a very level all -round Eleven , and the Upping- ham boys were unquestionably a formidable team with such batsmen as Patterson , Steele , and Lucas, and bowlers like Steele , Schultz , and Patterson , besides fielding very muchabove the average .
