C.G.Russen was a full substitute for Tasmania, replacing J.H.Savigny (Russen allowed to replace Savigny who had been named in the team but did not appear on the first day). A.W.Nourse’s 141 took 147 minutes and included 22 fours. C.W.B.Martin’s 103 took 118 minutes and included 14 fours and 1 six. P.W.Sherwell’s 144 took 94 minutes and included 25 fours and 1 six. H.O.Smith’s 124 took 172 minutes and included 17 fours. J.W.Zulch retired hurt in the South Africans first innings having scored 0 (team score 3-0) - he returned when the score was 127-4. 29
