First-Class Matches Pakistan 1975/76 to 1979/80

Azmat Rana enjoyed an outstanding season and headed the batting aggregates with 1504 runs at an imposing 88.47; he was closely followed by Arshad Pervez with 1418 at 78.77 and Javed Miandad, still only 20 years of age, with 1369 at 72.05. The only other batman to pass the thousand mark was another Test player, Mudassar Nazar with 1065 at 52.35. Abdur Raqib (slow left-arm) contributed as much as anyone to the triumphs of Habib Bank and he emerged as the season’s leading wicket-taker with no fewer than 90 victims at an average of only 13.23. Three other bowlers also exceeded fifty, all of them current Test players: Iqbal Qasim (73 at 18.23), Abdul Qadir (72 at 17.75) and Liaqat Ali (52 at 17.98). Note that 8-ball overs were in use in Pakistan this season.
