FIrst-Class Matches India 2005/06 and 2006/07
Preface This book represents the third volume in the ACS series of ‘hard to get’ match scorecards: that is, cards of first-class matches that have appeared neither in Wisden , nor in an overseas national annual, nor in any other recognized source of match scores in book form. The present volume completes the task of filling the most important gap in the record of first-class cricket in India; namely the hiatus between the final edition of the Indian Cricket annual, dated 2004 but covering the 2002/03 season, and the publication by the ACS of all overseas first-class scores with effect from the 2007/08 season. Of the four missing Indian seasons, 2003/04 and 2004/05 were covered by the previous book in this series. This leaves the present volume to supply the total of 195 matches played in the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons. For reasons of convenience and completeness, all first-class games are included including those, such as the Test matches, that are readily available in other sources. In addition to the match scorecards, there is a brief narrative introduction to each season, together with the final tables for the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. This volume and its predecessor have gone a long way to completing the printed record of first-class cricket in India. There remains, however, a celebrated cricketing nation where the number of first-class cards yet to appear in book form is far greater than was ever the case in India. And it is that nation, Pakistan, to which the ‘hard to get’ series will turn its attention in its fourth volume, due to appear in 2018. John Bryant July 2017 5
