Cricket Witness No 1 - Class Peace
4 Introduction This is the first volume in a new series called ‘Cricket Witness’ which explores through primary and secondary sources a number of themes in cricket history. Over the course of the coming years, it is hoped that further volumes will be produced covering contemporary topics and recent history, in addition to themes from the 18th and 19th centuries. We are delighted that Eric Midwinter, an eminent cricket historian and former senior officer of the Association should launch the series with a typically erudite and scholarly analysis of a pivotal theme in cricket history. I would be delighted to hear from other authors who would like to contribute to what we hope will be a major series by the Association, and building on the excellent reputation of the ‘Lives in Cricket’ series. Anyone who wishes to contribute should contact me in writing at the Association’s address or by email to higgers2015@outlook.com Andrew Hignell Hon. Secretary ACS and Series Editor
