HAMILTON. Thismatch tookplaceat Hamilton on Friday 4th inst., and resulted in adraw. The wandoring tribe wore unfortunate in losing Logan and Hall, who both failed to put in an appearanco on the ground. Montgomery kindly filled one place, but the other was left vacant. I Zingari won the toss, and took the innings. Merritt only lasted a fow overs, but when Ray and Morrison entered into partnership runs cane quickly, and 76 was on the telegraph when the former unfortunately ran hiuself out. He bad played a useful innings, but owing to want of practica showed scarcely his old forn. Allan got a good 3 to leg, a double, and two singles, but bis impatience led hui (unwisely) to hit at Gillespie. Morrison played much more carefully than usual-a decided compliment to Hamilton's bowling ; lie had no lives. Kirchhoffer played a good innines ; lie hit out several times, but got half his runs by placing lis hits. The rear stand was made by Brown and Macdonell, the former of wloni got his runs ail to leg. Howard and Montgomery quickly retired. The Hamilton bowling and fielding -was as good as usual, but the batting conqUered it. Hamilton began with lier usual men, and 37 had been put up be- fore they could be induced to part company. Morrison was bowl- ing, and noticing the Doctor's disposition to go out of his ground, lie baulked and put down the wicket. Hope in the meantime had been nissed by Merritt, and an easy chance of running him out was refused by Brown. He was finally captured by Morrison. Although his score was largo and some of bis hits safe, half were skied, and many were the times the ball shaved bis wickets. Blomeley played in really good forn. Montgomery bowled Sayers aud Mulligan on very good length balla. Cunmings contributed a useful 9. The others were run out foolishly. The Zingari field- ing was loose, although allowance should be iade for having only ten men while Hamilton fielded eleven. The full score and bowl- ing analyses follow : r ZINGARI. S.
