An a-sociation gane was played at Uxbridge on Tuesday, August 8th, between Whitby and Uxbridge. Owing te the heavy rain which fell in tho morning tho game was not comnmonced until two o'clock in tho afternoon. Whitby winning the toss went first te the bat, facing the bowling of Bascoma and Bethune. The balla were well on the spot, and the ground being rather dead, they proved vory destructive, and when tho telegraph showed eiglt runs, six wickots had fallen. The last four men made a very good stand. The innings closed for a total of 40. Uxbridge immediately went to the bat, and. wcre not disposed of until a total of 80 runs was put together, Bethune playing in very fine style for 29, and Bustin making a dashing 22, remarkable for its lack of singles and a clean lit for 6. Whitb a ---- rdi ., .àlh pruvd iu 'o a very good one, the tenth wicket falling for 117. Sam Ray played in magnifi- cent forai for 54, Wpd Ross showed good cricket in his well-nade 23. This match, played in Guelph on tho 2nd inst., was very much unfinished, as the visitors were disappointed by the cancellation of a mixed train, and had to leave in the middle of the afternoon. The fielding of Brantford was excellent, their bowling fair, and thoir batting (what was seen of it) good. For Guelph, Hanson, 23, and Lemmon 29 not out, played admirably.
