UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO Y. UNIVERSITY OF TRINITY COLLEGE. This match, usually played on Commencement Day of the University of Toronto of each year, was brought on earlier this secason se as te avoid clashing with Trinity examinations. The game may be regarded as a fizzle, played as thrce of the innings were in the puring rain. That the second half was aven begun is Toronto's faul., and they have thenselves te blame for the consequences. Trinity played the two Howards and Campbell as graduates, while the tean of their opponents was exclusivély undergraduato. Tha scores which follov speak for themselves, and attest how difficult it is ta pick runs out of a nud puddle. Creelman bowled six aver, five of which were maidens, at the cust of two runs. Campbell and Boulton played well for their scores: U«NIvERrrY oF TORoNT. .let Innings. G. G. S. Lindsuy, b D. Howard. 2 R. R. Boulton, c Brent, c D. Howard............... .... ...... 19 F. S. The Toronto team were collected by 12 o'clock, and play began at that hour. M'erison and Jackson mado the only stand of the innings, and when they were disposed of, the wickets were knocked down almost as soon as put up. Allen and Macdonell bowled well, the former with his arn, the latter with his head. The fielding was painstaking. Before Toronto had turned out, rain began to fall, and, increasing steadly, the players were obliged te retire, and the match was left unfinished. The first two representa- tives ofTrinity soon succumbed ta easy catches; A bbot, the captain, was bowled by a really beaiiul ball. Allan had on, of his bails taken off. Macdonell skied one to Shanly, was dropped and bowled the next one over with a breakback ; Hamilton played steadily, and so did Cayley. Score :- TORONTO. G. N. Monday the 29th ult., saw thie annual contest, last year discon. tinued, renewed on the gMund of Trinity, who won by 10 wickets. In former days the match against the school ivas confined te the actual strength of the Collage, but disastrous failures of the last few years determined the present committee ta play only University matches. As it was, the sole representative of the past was Camp- bell, who, however, came off with a good innings of 20, though ie did net bowl. Townley was also in good form for the winners. Radcliffe hit well, and the restall contributed a few. Tha bowling analysis of Godfrey and Townley speaks for itsclf. For the schoel Ince played up well and pluckily in cach innings, and was well supported in the second by Abbott, Cayley, and Hamilton. What became of the batti»g in the morning is a mystery, for the bowling they had ta face was net particularly strong, and the wicket, at one end at lcast, absolute perfection. Macdonell bowled steadily and well, being very difficuit te score froin ; Allan ha<ito face thewind, and on the excellent wicket was a little punished by the first pair of batsmen. The fieldimg was for the most part good, especially Burritt's, and Hamilton ept wicket well. Trinity also showed a marked improvement in this department.
