1978 There were two faces to Derbyshire cricket in 1978. Until early July they carried all before them and reached the final of the Benson and Hedges Cup where they were comfortably beaten by Kent. Match after match was wrecked by poor weather with almost one hundred hours of play being lost. Nearly every home championship match was affected and the county finished in fourteenth place in the championship. Taylor missed some of these matches as he retained his place in the England team.
