He took 19 wickets at an average of 18.47 which put him in second place in the County’s bowling averages but he bowled only 141.5 overs compared to the 1139.1 sent down by Charlie Parker who took 184 wickets. There were some highlights, though, including his first hat-trick, against Sussex at Eastbourne. He took the wickets of A.H.H.Gilligan (bowled), W.L.Cornford (c H.Smith) and T.E.R.Cook (c E.G.Dennett) in the first innings. Against Glamorgan at Cheltenham (Victoria Park) he took 6-23 bowling unchanged with Hammond to dismiss Glamorgan for 54 in 70 minutes.
