Thirteen times did Goddard take five wickets in an innings and on five occasions he took ten wickets in a match. Outstanding performances were 13 for 111 against Lancashire at Old Trafford, 15 for 107, (including 9 for 61 in the second innings), against Derbyshire at Bristol, 11 for 141 against Kent at Bristol and 11 for 138 against Yorkshire at Huddersfield.
