He played in only seven matches and took thirteen wickets at a rather expensive 29.23. The first choice spinners were Ian Peebles and J.C.White who performed far better than Goddard. He never appeared in any of the Test Matches and he bowled only 159.1 overs on the whole tour. For a bowler who thrived on long spells with Gloucestershire he was probably under-used.
