This included four centuries, three of which came in mid August in consecutive matches. His poor start to the season had failed to gain him selection for any representative matches however and he was not considered for the winter tour to Australia. The selectors although mindful of his exploits four years previously were obviously not inclined to pick “horses for courses” and preferred the Surrey left-handed batsman Laurie Fishlock who had had an excellent season and played twice for England against All India. Lancashire finished eleventh in the Championship, equalling their previous lowest position in 1914. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 207.
