It included several highly promising batsmen in Vic Richardson, Woodfull, Ponsford, Kippax and Jackson, wicket-keeper Oldfield, and a number of interesting bowlers, including both Blackie and Grimmett. Grimmett played in all four provincial games, beginning with seven against Wellington, followed by a fine all-round performance of 6-23 against Otago where he scored 59, adding 116 for the eighth wicket with A.Jackson. Subsequently in the next two games he returned match figures of 13-243 against Canterbury, followed by 7-91 against Auckland in their second innings. His final two games were against an ‘unofficial’ New Zealand XI, when, after failing to take a wicket in the second innings for the only time on the tour, he claimed 6-47 in the first innings of the second match to round off a highly successful tour. His 47 wickets at 16.89 were just under fifty per cent of the final total of 100. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 69.
