Famous Cricketers No 95 - P.A.Perrin
drive off a delivery fromW.Storer which had ‘slipped’ and was bouncing almost harmlessly down the pitch towards him. Perrin took his first wicket in first class cricket at Bradford in June. Brought on by H.G.P.Owen as eighth bowler, in his first over he bowled Ted Wainwright for 25 in Yorkshire’s only innings. Perrin described the delivery with evident pleasure in an interview with W.A.Bettesworth reported in Cricket magazine in May 1900. In the return match with Gloucestershire at Clifton College, Perrin was one of three wicket-keepers used by Essex in the home county’s only innings, when they were without T.M.Russell, the regular keeper. This appears to have been the only time he kept wicket in a first-class match. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 35.
