It was one of his least successful campaigns, as he took only two Test wickets at great cost and was severely ill-treated by the Barbadian batsmen in the Second Quadrangular Tournament at Georgetown in October. His best match analysis was 4/157 in 55 overs for Jamaica against the Indians in March, which somehow seemed enough to convince the selectors to recall him for Test duty. But he disappointed them on this occasion. As a batsman, however, he shared a valuable tenth wicket partnership of 35 runs with Garry Sobers when West Indies were struggling at 218/9 in their first innings at Kingston in April.
