In six first-class matches he captured 23 wickets at an average cost of 19.43 runs apiece. His bowling was so steady that almost half of his overs were maidens. He began the tour with 6/82 against Auckland from 71 overs of which 33 were maidens. At Christchurch, he and Ramadhin (among the bowlers) did most to ensure victory by more than an innings. The major West Indian stars of the tour were Ramadhin and Everton Weekes. The former captured 40 wickets (ave 16.40) in 8 matches while the latter scored 940 runs 20
