Famouos Cricketers No 92 - Ian Chappell

1979/80 After two seasons with World Series Cricket Ian returned as captain of South Australia. It was an unhappy time at first, with clashes with umpires and the SACA. He served a three-week suspension for using what was classified as abusive language. Nevertheless, he fought his way back into the Test side, batting stubbornly against England but having less success against the West Indies four-pronged pace attack. At the end of the season he finally called it a day. He scored a century in his last first-class match. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 251.
