Opening the batting for Cambridge he scored hundreds in successive innings against MCC and then Surrey. Called into the England team at Lord’s in July he scored 91 either side of lunch on the first day. A month later in only his third Test innings he scored 103 in 135 minutes. Not surprisingly, this was the first season in which Jackson scored 1,000 runs. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 53.
