Famous Cricketers No 87 - J.H.Wardle

J.H.Wardle in One-Day Cricket Wardle appeared for Cambridgeshire in four matches in the Gillette Cup competition between 1964 and 1967. The county won only one match, against Oxfordshire at Wisbech in 1967, but this result brought Wardle into direct opposition with his old county, Yorkshire, in the next round. It was unfortunate that rain reduced this contest, which was played at Castleford, to a ten-over match but Wardle must have gained some satisfaction from dismissing two leading Yorkshire batsmen, J.H.Hampshire and K.Taylor. It may have crossed his mind that, had circumstances been different, he could have been still playing for Yorkshire not against them. 1964 1.
