Famous Cricketers No 85 - Derek Underwood

1981 On the morning of September 1st against Hampshire at Bournemouth Johnson caught Turner to give Underwood his 2000th first-class wicket. He became the 32nd bowler to achieve this feat and joined Colin Blythe, ‘Titch’ Freeman, Frank Woolley and Doug Wright as the only Kent bowlers to have done so. A month earlier against the same county at Canterbury he made only the second fifty of his career and shared a ninth-wicket stand of 108 with Richard Ellison, still the highest for this wicket for the county against Hampshire.
