Jessop scored only one century this season, against Worcestershire at Worcester. He made 127 in 90 minutes with 2 sixes and 16 fours. He put on 209 for the 3rd wicket with D.C.Robinson. Against Kent at Cheltenham, Jessop took his last haul of 5 wickets in an innings. On 23rd September Gilbert Jessop’s mother, Susannah Radford Jessop, died in Cheltenham aged 75. She survived her husband by more than twenty-two years. They were married on 12th July 1859 at St 48
