Jessop was top of the County’s batting averages and seventh in their bowling list. It was around this time that Jessop became a regular journalist for The Daily Mail. Journalism was a career he pursued before and after the War. Gilbert Jessop spent some pre-season time practising on the ground run by G.W.Beldham.
